Gill's Blog

February2023

Hello to those looking at my website and considering our Company.  It has been a truly tasking time 2019 onwards for everyone.  The Weddings we completed in 2022 to some extent were those moved from 2019 booked pre Covid.  Some poor couples had to rearrange dates and year 3 times. Thankfully 2022 saw their patience rewarded and love and laughter abounded.  It was truly a marvellous year for them and us as a Company witnessing their joy and 'relief'!

However for Wedding transport in particular it has been further taxing, particularly with the rise in fuel costs and the availability of the correct fuel for classic cars. We have of late had requests for winter weddings in areas of Cheshire which we are not familiar with. As a company it is difficult for us because of road conditions at that time of year and taking our cars further afield out of our comfort zone.  I have therefore had to decline their request, which saddens me to disappoint them.  When we carry out any wedding which is afar we do have to do a dummy run which all adds to the cost.  Our winter weddings are in the main 7 miles away and 15 miles tops. with good main road routes.

I hope you enjoy reading the following which allows you a little insight into our family life in Cheshire.

I am a retired schoolteacher,  having taught in Primary, Secondary and Tertiary.  I have worked in Industry and Commerce and also spent a number of years owning my own dress shop and coffee shop.

I have two married daughters, my eldest lives quite close and is Mum to my gorgeous grandson who at the age of 19 is an ex Karting champion and keen sportsman, He plays cricket for a local club and so much so, I have become a cricket addict and love watching weekend matches. Sadly Covid-19  prevented a full season of cricket for 2020 and 2021 but we did manage to watch some wonderfully played matches and the final game 2020 a friendly team from the South, when Steven received a trophy for the best bowling of the match.  The 2021 season finished with a presentation for him of 'best catch'.. In 2022 Steven changed clubs and sadly towards the end of the season packed in cricket altogther, much to my dismay. My youngest daughter lived in Spain for a time (lucky lady) but she is now living in Dubai and teaching out there.  I miss her terribly.

I manage my own web site which I thoroughly enjoy.  There are three official photographs of the cars but the Weddings and  Social Occasions etc I take myself and I always ask permission to put any photos on the web.  I am building up my Facebook Business pages, you can link up at the bottom of this page.  Covid came with a vengeance! we did have a busy  2019 season up until then but 2020 was quite poor with only 3 weddings and an 80th Birthday run because the weddings planned moved to 2021 and some even going forward to what became a 2022 busy season.

We can never thank enough  our wonderful NHS Carers and Keyworkers. God Bless them.

The  2022 season was wonderful and busy as you will be able to see from my business Facebook pages and 2023 saw our first wedding on January 14th and the day was just glorious with sunshine!

Those who have visited the site before will realise that I now have a new look website.  I have also changed my gallery pages and have one for Brides and Grooms, another for Mums and Dads and Bridesmaids, plus another for Social/Special Occasions.  My Facebook page which can be accessed from the bottom of every page shows Weddings, Occasions as soon as they are carried out. Which of course gives you an idea of what we do and are doing currently.

I am  a member of  the Crewe Branch U3A where I am learning Spanish - all good fun. I also go to Line Dancing Classes with the U3A and I absolutely love it,it is marvellous enjoyment whilst exercising and the social side is a tonic too!  I am also attending computer classes with the U3A. Sadly Covid19  prevented an active U3A but is was great fun keeping in touch with my many friends by way of telephone calls and Zoom! I attend the local Gym 3 times per week as I am trying to lose weight, I have to force myself with the latter but really do feel the benefit of all my activities.  During 2019  I managed to lose 2 stone but alas 'lockdown'  and restrictions in 2020 now seem to tell a different 'story' Still 'Onwards and Upwards' so they say!.

I hope you will find my Links page useful.  All the services I can recommend personally.  They are companies that I have worked with (dealt with) who can offer the same level of professionalism and attention to detail and at the same time give friendly and courteous service too.

I consider I have a wealth of experience relating to all aspects of Wedding Transport.  Nothing is left to chance.  We usually carry out a pre wedding run on the Wednesday evening before the weekend or if a mid week wedding at least three days before.  We do advise you of this and if possible call at the house of Bride's departure and may meet the Bride but in most cases it is the parents, in which case, we introduce ourselves and confirm arrangements for the day.  This is particularly important when carrying out double trips, ie who goes first and at what time.

Talking of double trips.  They aren't always possible if the distance between picking up bridal party and taking to the ceremony venue whether it be Civil or Church is more than 3/4 miles.  Very often even the most organised itinery can suffer through unforseen circumstances occuring. When you come to see us to book your wedding we explain this to you.  We build into our itinery a time slot of extra 15 - 30 minutes.  For us this is particularly important if we are travelling to pick the Bride up who is at least 20 plus miles away and we have to navigate country roads where we can be held up by  tractors and trailers. which reduces our speed to well below the road limit.  When a civil ceremony takes place, very often the registrar and marriage officers are on a strict time scale because their remit is to carry out more than one ceremony and if the second or third ceremony is at two venues  miles apart then they probably work on the basis of a 20 minute extra time slot.  This I know from speaking to them personally. to continue .......
